PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST: FRANCE – INDIA : METISSAGE AND CROSS CULTURAL PERSPECTIVES From the 11th of February to the 5th of March 2008. Award ceremony to be organized during the Francophonie celebration on the 15th of March 2008. On the occasion of INDIA PHOTO NOW 08 (IPN 08 ) and to celebrate together the FRANCOPHONIE between the 15th to the 20th of March a competition will be opened to the fans of !FAN and to the students of the Alliance Française. IPN’08 – a platform for photography in India is a part of the bi-lateral agreements between India and France, which started officially on the 27th of January in the wake of the State visit of the President of the French Republic, M. Nicolas Sarkozy. This large-scale series of events will last till December 2008. The IPN’08 platform is based on a concept by photographer Alain Willaume (co-curator, Rencontres d’Arles 2007) and stems from the success of the India programme of Rencontres internationales de la photographie d’Arles 2007 and the publication of the book India Now, New Visions in Photography (Textuel/Thames and Hudson, 2007), both supported by the Embassy of France in India. Nine exhibitions shown at IPN’08 come back from France. For this photography contest on the theme “France-India : Métissage and cross cultural perspectives” each participant may send up to 3 visuals ( format jpeg, low resolution, 72 dpi). The participant is free to utilise all types of photographic documents (personal photos, reproductions, prints, post cards etc… your options are unlimited) in order to create a canvas representing this theme. We will take into consideration the originality, pertinence to the theme, as well as the presentation and interpretation to adjudge the best entries.
